The International Council of Religions (ICR) is hereby established as an autonomous, non-governmental, and non-profit international body, dedicated to promoting interfaith harmony, fostering mutual understanding, and strengthening peaceful coexistence among the diverse religious, spiritual, and indigenous traditions across the globe. The Council functions as a neutral and inclusive platform wherein representatives of various faith communities, religious scholars, civil society actors, and peace advocates may engage in constructive dialogue, collaborative initiatives, and policy advocacy geared toward global reconciliation and sustainable peace.

ICR operates in alignment with universally accepted principles and legal standards as articulated in the Charter of the United Nations, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948), and the Declaration on the Elimination of All Forms of Intolerance and of Discrimination Based on Religion or Belief (1981), as well as other relevant international instruments. The Council recognizes and affirms the inherent dignity and equal rights of all members of the human family, including their right to freedom of thought, conscience, religion, and belief.

In pursuit of its objectives, the International Council of Religions endeavours to:

• Promote a culture of peace through interreligious and intercultural dialogue;
• Encourage mutual respect among faith traditions without compromising doctrinal distinctiveness;
• Facilitate humanitarian collaboration among religious institutions in times of crisis and need;
• Protect the religious, cultural, and spiritual heritage of communities facing existential threats;
• Advocate against all forms of religious intolerance, discrimination, persecution, and extremism;
• Support the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through faith-based approaches rooted in compassion, justice, and service.

The ICR serves as a consultative and cooperative entity, complementing the efforts of international organizations, national governments, religious institutions, and civil society bodies in advancing peace, reconciliation, and inclusive development. The Council affirms that genuine interfaith cooperation is essential not only for resolving religious conflicts but also for building a just, tolerant, and cohesive global society.

अंतरराष्ट्रीय सर्वधर्मपरिषद एक स्वायत्त, गैर-सरकारी एवंगैर-लाभकारी अंतरराष्ट्रीय संस्थाहै, जिसका गठन विश्व की विविध धार्मिक, आध्यात्मिक एवं आदिवासी परंपराओं के मध्य आपसी समझ, शांतिपूर्ण सह-अस्तित्व एवं सहयोगात्मक सहभागिता को प्रोत्साहित करने के उद्देश्य से किया गया है। यह परिषद एक निष्पक्ष एवं समावेशीमंच के रूप में कार्य करती है, जहाँ विभिन्न धर्मों के प्रतिनिधि, धर्मशास्त्री, नागरिक,समाज के कार्यकर्ता एवं शांति समर्थक व्यक्ति वैश्विकमेल-मिलाप और सतत् शांतिहेतु संवाद, सहयोग और नीति-सम्बंधी गति विधियों में सहभागी बनते हैं।

अंतरराष्ट्रीय सर्वधर्मपरिषद संयुक्त राष्ट्र संघ के चार्टर, मानवाधिकारों की सार्वभौमिक उद्घोषणा (1948) तथा धर्म या आस्था के आधार पर असहिष्णुता और भेदभाव के सभी रूपों के उन्मूलन की घोषणा (1981) सहित अन्य प्रासंगिक अंतरराष्ट्रीय दस्तावेजों में वर्णितसार्व भौमिक सिद्धांतों और विधिकमान कों के अनुरूप कार्य करता है। यह परिषद समस्त मानव समुदाय की अंत र्निहित गरिमा एवं समान अधिकारों को स्वीकार करते हुए विचार, अंतरात्मा, धर्म एवं आस्था की स्वतंत्रता का पूर्ण समर्थन करती है।

अपनी उद्देश्यानुसार गतिविधियों के अंतर्गत, अंतरराष्ट्रीय सर्व धर्म परिषद निम्नलिखित प्रमुख लक्ष्यों की प्राप्ति हेतु कार्यरत हैः-

• धर्मों और संस्कृतियों के मध्य संवाद के माध्यम से शांति की संस्कृतिको बढ़ावादेना
• धार्मिक विविधता का सम्मान करते हुए परस्परआदर की भावना को प्रोत्साहित करना
• संकटऔरआपदाकी घड़ी में धार्मिक संस्थाओं के मध्य मानवीय सहयोग को सशक्त करना
• संकटग्रस्त समुदायों की धार्मिक, सांस्कृतिक एवं आध्यात्मिक धरोहर की रक्षा करना
• धार्मिक असहिष्णुता, भेदभाव, उत्पीड़न और कट्टरवाद के सभी रूपों का विरोध करना
• करुणा, न्याय और सेवापर आधारित धार्मिक दृष्टिकोणों के माध्यम से सततविकास लक्ष्यों की प्राप्ति का समर्थनकरना

परिषद एक सलाहकार एवं सहयोगीनिकाय के रूप में कार्य करती है, जो शांति, समरसता और समावेशी विकास को आगे बढ़ाने हेतु अंतरराष्ट्रीय संगठनों, राष्ट्रीय सरकारों, धार्मिक संस्थाओं एवं नागरिक समाज संगठनों के प्रयासों का पूरकबनती है

परिषद यह विश्वास रखती है कि वास्तविक अंतर धार्मिक सहयोग न केवल धार्मिक संघर्षों के समाधान के लिए अनिवार्य है, बल्कि एक न्यायपूर्ण, सहिष्णु एवं एकीकृत वैश्विक समाज के निर्माण के लिए भी अत्यावश्यक है।
